About

It’s with open arms and gratitude that we welcome you to littleshedinuptown.com. Little Shed, truly holds a special place in our hearts. This entire business idea was born completely out of a dream I didn’t know could ever come to life. It’s truly only because our faith and the support of our family that we are here today.

In 2014, we bought our first fixer upper with a small wooden shed for storage. A 100 year old house. We decided that it was time to utilize my 10 years experience in interior design and apply that towards our dream of turning this fixer into our home. The journey began. We planned our wedding and worked on our house, all while still keeping our full time jobs. Days turned into well worth late nights. It was here that I was able to share my passion for making things beautiful with Edwin. I taught him the beauty of combining design with ideas. Our hard work paid off well. Months later, our house was now our home. Our vision became a reality. Our mission was complete or so we thought.

Our wedding came and went and a year later Edwin and I decided to take the honeymoon that we weren't able to take the year before because we were so busy working on our home. The island of Kauai became our home for that next week. It was there that Edwin would make a comment that would hit me like a ton of bricks and change our lives, forever.

It was late one evening while on the island that I was received news from of coworker of mine that her daughter was on the verge of graduating from one of the best universities in the country. She briefly interrupted our trip only to thank me for the guidance that I had offered her daughter. I felt so accomplished and proud that I felt the need to share the news with my husband. Edwin was happy of course but made a comment that struck me. He asked me about my own dreams. He told me never to lose them or myself. I realized that evening that my mission had not been completed but had only begun. It was time to share our gifts with the world. It was time to share our passion for making things beautiful with others.

We pulled the trigger. We shared the news with our family who encouraged us to pursue our dream of opening an affordable gifts and home goods store. I decided to make the tough decision and leave my position in design in order to devote my 100% to this dream of ours. Little Shed was born. It would not be here without the incredible support and strength of my husband, Edwin.

Fast forward and here we are today! To think that my business plans scribbled on memo pad paper have turned into this online store.

Thank you for taking the time out of your day to visit Little Shed. We love having you, and hope that one day you might even come out to Whittier for a visit. Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. We appreciate all of your thoughts and suggestions.

Amanda & Edwin Alvarado
